Do gutter guards actually work?
The cheap snap-in screens don't; we pull mats of maple helicopters out of them every spring. Surgical-steel micro-mesh does, which is why we can put 20 years on it in writing.
Why 6-inch instead of the standard 5-inch?
About 40 percent more capacity for roughly 10 percent more cost. On steep roofs or long runs, 5-inch overshoots in exactly the KC downpours you bought gutters for.
Can you fix rotten fascia before hanging new gutters?
We insist on it. Hanging new gutters on soft wood is how you buy the same gutters twice. Fascia repair is priced per foot in your quote.
